Zotero storage full? Your library isn’t.
The 300 MB limit only applies to files synced to Zotero’s servers. You can keep adding references, and nothing on your computer is deleted.
What the warning means
New PDFs stop syncing to your other devices. Your references, notes and collections keep syncing normally.
Your options
1. Remove files you don’t need
Delete them in Zotero, empty the trash and sync. With many PDFs, this usually only buys a little time.
2. Buy more Zotero Storage
The simplest option, and the only one for shared group libraries. Zotero offers 2 GB, 6 GB and unlimited plans.
3. Use Refory for your PDFs
Zotero can store the files in My Library elsewhere using its built-in WebDAV setting. Refory gives you 50 GB.
4. Link files instead
For advanced users: keep PDFs in your own folders and link to them. Linked files don’t sync to your other devices or zotero.org.
Don’t move your Zotero folder into Dropbox
Putting Zotero’s data folder in Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive can damage your library. Zotero warns against it.
